The Material Library is a hands-on, portable learning center. Material samples, diagrams, and documents in this collection serve as introductions to materials as processes. This community-sourced library gathers material samples by contemporary design and adjacent practices, including experiments in chemical reactions, design with SCOBY, environment-reactive metals, biocalcified foam, woven earth fibers, and other mobilizations of matters and the material accidents that happen along the way. The samples present outcomes of diverse sites of crafting and fabrication, from the backyard, to the kitchen sink, to the lab hood booth.

The material library is an open collection and repository of physical samples—ranging from industrial products to organic materials—that can be touched, handled, and held in order to offer tangible and experiential learning.
